Please speak to a member of the Reception team to obtain your on-line login details and you will need to provide photographic proof of identity as part of this process.
The receptionists are all trained and are there to help you. We do ask them to inquire from you the nature of your problem in order that you may be given the most appropriate help. Anything you tell them will be treated in absolute confidence. We do understand that you may only wish to divulge your concern to the doctor, practice nurse or advanced paramedic practitioner and on such an occasion a simple statement such as “it’s a personal matter” will put an end to further inquiries.
The Practice offers a wide range of appointments at 10 minute intervals that can be booked in advance with a practitioner of your choice. You may consult any of the doctors in the practice regardless of which doctor you are registered with, but we encourage patients to stay with one GP if at all possible.
As part of our ongoing improvements to the different way our patients can access help and advice from a GP, we offer on the day bookable telephone consultations and face to face appointments with the GPs working at the surgery that day. As well as speaking to or seeing a GP, you may also be booked an appointment with our Advanced Paramedic Practitioner. This is to ensure that all our patients can benefit from prompt and appropriate advice and treatment. Medically urgent cases will always be seen on the same day and you will be given an urgent appointment, specifically for that problem. Extended Opening - On Monday and Wednesday evenings, we offer evening GP appointments (both face to face and telephone) from 6.30pm until around 8pm. During these late surgeries, the Dispensary is closed and the Reception is not open for general enquiries or urgent problems.
Text Reminder Service: We offer a text reminder service to patients for appointment reminders, cancellations and other health services. You will need to be over 16 years old and have a mobile telephone. If you do not wish to receive this service then please let us know so that we update our records.
If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know in good time so it can be used by another patient. Please also try not to be late as this delays other patients.
Additional GP Clinics - to improve access for patients with an urgent need
As part of a Gloucestershire wide initiative to enable better access for patients to Primary Health Care Services, extra GP clinics are run at Fairford and Cirencester Hospital for patients who have an urgent need. Appointments are made by calling the receptionist at your GP practice who will then if appropriate to your needs book an appointment for you. This service also operates from a number of other venues across the county. It is anticipated that these clinics will run at Fairford Hospital until the end of March 2018 when a new South Cotswold locality model will then be introduced.
